Anthony Watley

Anthony is a candidate for his Master's of Landscape Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. He was born and raised in New Orleans, and after getting his undergraduate degree in biology he ended up working as a real estate agent for over 10 years before deciding to go back to school to become a landscape architect. Anthony discovered the profession first after applying for his Master's in Architecture, but after being exposed to the career and recognizing it as the perfect blend between nature, problem solving, and art, he switched his enrollment to the Landscape Architecture program. In his time so far at the University of Texas, he has served as the Firm Liaison for his school's SASLA organization, served as a Dean's Ambassador, and was recently awarded the University Graduate Continuing Fellowship. Anthony hopes that his education will put him in a position to be a Black voice at the tables where solutions to some of our greatest issues are found, and in doing that also be able to create spaces that simply provide beauty and ease of being to a world that desperately needs it.
